UEFA Champions League Preview: Three European Giants In Action

Bayern Munich travel to Greece, while Manchester United host Juventus and Manchester City head to Ukraine

The UEFA Champions League is back this week, with some of the continent’s biggest clubs in action this coming Tuesday evening (23 October). Back to winning ways, Bayern Munich take on AEK Athens, while Italian champions head to a challenge at Old Trafford against Manchester United, while English champions Manchester City take on Ukraine’s finest, Shakhtar Donetsk.

First things first

Before you go any further, head on over to the Oddsshark website, find your favourite betting site and get your own account up and running using your credit card. As a new customer and with the Champions League already underway, there should be a wide range of promotions and special offers available to you.

Where should I be investing my money?

First up, Germany champions Bayern Munich head to the Greek capital to take on AEK Athens. This will be the first ever meeting between these two teams, but Bayern have never lost against Greek opposition in Europe, winning seven and drawing two of their nine previous matches – and, having returned to winning ways this past weekend, can come into this match full of confidence.

AEK, for their part, sit third in the Greek Super League, six points off the top of the table, and have a wretched record against German clubs. In seven previous matches they have won just once, and we do not see that particular statistic getting any better after this tie.

And despite being away from home, it is Bayern who come in as the red hot favourites to take all three points. You can back the Germans to pick up the win at just 1.25, with AEK Athens all the way out at 15.00 to do the same – a draw is priced in the middle at 6.50, according to Oddsshark.

A comfortable, 3-1 win for Bayern is priced at 11.00, thereby offering more than a ten-fold return on any investment. In addition, you could double your money by backing both teams to score at a price of 2.00.

Juventus look to build on continental form

With a 100 per cent record and no goals conceded, Italian champions Juventus head to Old Trafford and a meeting with Manchester United looking to make it three wins from three in the UEFA Champions League. The Old Lady dropped their first points on the domestic front this past weekend as they were held 1-1 by Genoa and will be looking to get back to winning ways here.

United, by way of comparison, come into this one buoyed by their performance in a 2-2 draw away to Chelsea. They were denied victory thanks to a last gasp goal but there was ample evidence that, for Jose Mourinho and his side, offence may well be the best form of defence.

Nevertheless, it is visitors Juventus who come into this one as favourites to take the points. You can more than double your money by backing the Old Lady at 2.40, with United and a draw both priced at 3.30.

Yet with home advantage we are expecting United to just about nick this one. A narrow, 1-0 win for the Red Devils is priced at 9.00, while you can also back United to win to nil (without Juventus scoring a goal) at 5.50.

City head to Ukraine in fine form

And finally, English league leaders Manchester City travel to take on Ukrainian league leaders Shakhtar Donetsk. Shakhtar have lost just once in 12 league outings and sit two points clear of Dynamo Kiev at the top of the pile.

Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, has pretty much picked up where he left off last season, with his City side first, unbeaten, and scoring at a rate of 2.88 goals per game. Having lost to Lyon they got back to winning ways in the Champions League away to Hoffenheim last time out.

And unsurprisingly it is City who come in as the favourites to take the points in this one as well. The Citizens are at just 1.40 to wrap up victory while Shakhtar, despite home advantage, are out at 7.50 to do the same – a draw is priced in the middle at 5.75.

A 2-1 win for City is priced at 8.50, meaning that a US$5 bet would lead to a US$42.50 pay out. Meanwhile, you could more than double your money by backing a combo bet of a City win and both teams to score at a price of 2.50.
