Nigerian forward Adeleke Akinyemi took his tally to seven goals in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday when he grabbed a consolatory goal for his Latvian side, Ventspil who lost 2-1 to Girondin Bordeaux in the second leg, second qualifying game at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux.
Akinyemi scored in the 65th minute as Ventspil crashed out following the defeat. He scored six goals in two games against Albanian side, Luftëtari FC.
Ventspil had lost the first leg 1-0 at home, this crashed out of the competition as Girondin Bordeaux advance 3-1 on aggregate.
Ezekiel Henty was in action for his Croatian side, Osijek who drew 1-1 in Thursday’s UEFA Europa League second qualifying round second leg clash with Rangers in Scotland on Thursday but lost 2-1 on aggregate.
Rangers who paraded Nigerian born British midfielder, Ovie Ejiara for the entire duration of the game and benched Umar Sadiq advanced to the next round of the third round of the competition a 2-0 aggregate.
In Slovenia, the duo of Sylvester Igbonu and Kehinde Fatai helped FC UFA advance to the next stage of the competition after they played out a 1-1 draw away Domzale.
Obinna Nwobodo was also paraded by Ujpest who lost 2-0 at home to Sevilla in the second leg second round qualifying stage. Sevilla advanced to the next round winning 6-1 on aggregate.
