Former Nigeria international, Nduka Ugbade, has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles can overcome their 2-0 home loss to South Africa in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo on Saturday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Two second half goals, from Tokelo Rantie and substitute Percy Tau secured South Africa's first ever competitive match win against the Super Eagles.

Reacting to the defeat, Ugbade who was in the Super Eagles squad that won the 1994 AFCON in Tunisia, however described the loss as a big disappointment.

"The loss was a very sad story," Ugbade told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"A lot of mistakes were made by the Eagles which must be corrected ahead of subsequent games.

"But I think the Eagles can come out of the disappointment. They shouldn't allow the defeat affect them because there are still a lot of games to be played.

This Coach put so many inactive players and so many new players who doesn’t know much about Africans kind of soccer! When I saw the Bafana’s squad and Rantie and few other players that I knew were in South Africans team. I told my colleagues that Super Eagles will loose this Match at home. This match was too much try and errors and you can’t win a match like that! Big Boss, didn’t this against this very South Africans team and the same Rantie scored and they’re leading us by two goals, until he brought in Sone Aluko whom scored two goals within few minutes! We need experience players in the team. This team isn’t good enough! We’re not going anywhere if we can’t read games. This isn’t a football squad at all! This is completely a joke, believed me! Do not try this in South Africa or with Cameroonian or else Super Eagles will be disgraced. This is what all the noise have came to! I’m not happy about this! Nigeria should not be struggling with teams like this, worst still, we’re defeated at home by Bafana Bafana! That’s a shame!
