Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah has agreed to join Werder Bremen on a four year deal, the German side has revealed on their official website.
Ujah who scored ten Bundesliga goals for Cologne to ensure their safety in the top flight previously featured for Mainz 05 where he scored 24 goals in 62 games in the Bundesliga 2. He requested for a transfer from the club currently 11th on the log, six points from the drop with three games left.
He took to Twitter to urge his esteemed fans to understand his decision.
“Don’t hate what you don’t understand,””Ujah wrote.
Ujah’s explosive speed, scoring ability and wild celebrations — at times with the club’s mascot which is a goat — made him a crowd favourite.
