Uwadiegwu: Enyimba Have Mission To Accomplish

–Against Smouah in battle of Alexandria

Enyimba defender, Ugwu Uwadiegwu has boasted the People’s Elephant will not be in Egypt for sight-seeing when they face Smouah in this weekend’s CAF Champions League first round return leg match.
Uwadiegwu, a former U-23 Dream Team V defender scored from a free kick as Enyimba went on to beat Warri Wolves 2-1 in the 2013 Federation Cup final.
Enyimba won the first leg 1-0 in Aba two weeks ago but amidst concerns that the Egyptians can turn the table against the two time African champions, Uwadiegwu insists they will play the game of their lives in Alexandria.
“The most important thing is that we are going into the game with a 1-0 cushion. So we are going there fight, we have a mission to accomplish”, says Ugwu, a former Enugu Rangers defender.
“We have seen them, we have known how they play so we’re ready for them. The good thing is that they won’t sit back. They will come out to attack and that will suit us.”
Enyimba won the 2003 CAF Champions League at the expense of Ismaily, 2-1 on aggregate.
The Nigerian side won 2-0 in Aba but despite conceding a goal in the return leg in Alexandria, they fought hard to hold on till final whistle.
“Of course, we’ve been there before, we’re aware of how intimidating their fans can be and their antics too.
“By the grace of God, we’ll come back victorious”, Ugwu stressed.
