Frustrated football fans did not hold back last night as they heavily criticised the Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, and his playèrs after the 2-2 draw with South Africa at the Akwa Ibom Stadium in Uyo.
The draw and Congo’s victory over Sudan combined to stop Nigeria from qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations next year.
Uyo fans, who at one point booed the Eagles, had strong words for Keshi and his boys.
“The team played as if they didn’t train together,” an angry fan, Etim, told Complete Sports. ” Even Keshi looked confused and didn’t know he was supposed to change players like Emenike and Onazi who were playing rubbish. It’s really sad.”
Samuel, a university student, lamented that he wasted his entrance fee. “I should have done something with my N1,000 if I’d known Keshi and his team would play rubbish. Keshi should just go.”
Several other fans asked for Keshi’s resignation and the overhauling of the team.
