Uzoho: Defeat To England Unwanted Result But We Gained Something

By Johnny Edward:
Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has admitted that the Super Eagles gained lessons from their 2-1 defeat to England in Saturday’s international friendly played at the Wembley Stadium, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Uzoho failed to keep a second clean sheet in action for Nigeria in the encounter as he was beaten twice in the first half by Gary Cahill and Harry Kane, but he thanks the Nigeria fans who backed the team throughout the encounter at the Wembley Stadium.

“Not the result wanted but at least we gained something. Thanks to the fans for support and cheering us up throughout. In Christ Alone,” the 19 year old wrote via his Instagram page @Uzoho4sure.

The former Aspire Academy player has made five international appearances for the Super Eagles and has kept only one clean sheet conceding five goals.

Uzoho is expected to be Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

His score card is that he makes use of his height to deal with crosses, sets his wall intelligently coupled with good positioning to save Free kicks and his one-on-one saves. Keep it up boy!

Enrico Pionetti is clearly doing some good work with Uzoho but the team as a whole needs to improve in defending corner kicks and set pieces. Uzoho should have saved that Harry Kane strike with his leg. Because the ball came under Troost-Ekong legs he would have seen it late. Next time use those legs boy! But generally a good performance against England.
