Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that three of his star players are fit to face PSV Eindhoven in Wednesday's Champions League clash.
Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial and skipper Wayne Rooney will all return to the squad to face PSV after missing the Premier League win over Watford on Saturday.
The three trained on Tuesday morning and van Gaal saw enough to suggest they are ready to play.
“Fellaini, Martial and Rooney have shown on the training ground their fitness," Van Gaal said during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
Van Gaal however insists that it is not guaranteed that the recovered players will walk straight into Wednesday's starting line up.
He added: “That is not automatic. It is always a decision of the manager.
“I compare, I compare always players with each other and I take into acount how fit they are and how fit they show in the training sessions and that’s why Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney have to show it on the training ground.
“Then I have to compare players with who are the best players to fit in with our game-plan. That is the same procedure with every match.”
The Dutchman still remembers the reverse fixture which his side lost after taking the break and lost Luke Shaw to a long-term injury.
He said: “I think the first match was very disappointing, not only because of the result but because of the loss of Luke Shaw.
“For us he is a very important player and I said in advance already he would be the revelation of the season and he was on his way to do that."
LVG then explains that he has given Shaw, who broke his leg against PSV, four days off ahead of a scan on Friday.
He added: “Shaw was fed up with the daily routine and I saw why he was fed up – maybe because it was PSV."
