In what could be the surprise move of the summer transfer window, and which would have far reaching effect to Arsenal’s transfer business, it being revealed that Real Madrid are interested in signing Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie. These claims were made by FIFA licensed agent, Francois Gallardo, who told French daily Le 10 Sport that Real Madrid are looking at the former Arsenal striker with a view to signing him.
The news of the European champion’s interest in the 30 year old could have a domino effect on Arsenal’s push to solve its striker’s crisis following the injury to Oliver Giroud.
Arsenal have been linked to Radamel Falcao, a player Real Madrid are also interested in, a push to sign Robin Van Persie could result in Los Blancos dropping their pursuit of the Monaco forward, which would leave Arsenal in pole position to sign the Monaco striker.
Besides that, Robin Van Persie’s speculated arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu would throw the future of Karim Benzema into doubt, as the Frenchman, though boosting a record of over a hundred goals for Real Madrid, still does not enjoy the overwhelming popularity amongst some Madrid faithful.
