Watford Boss Mazzarri Wary Of The Wounded Manchester City

Watford head coach, Walter Mazzarri is wary of a Manchester City backlash ahead of Wednesday's clash at the Etihad stadium but reveals they can compete with Citizens as long as they are “100% ready reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Pep Guardiola's side were outclassed 4-2 in Saturday's English Premier League fixture by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium and Mazzarri whose side returned to winning ways over Everton at the Vicarage Road, fears City will be desperate to end their miserable poor form in front of their home fans which may deny them a chance of winning the game.

Manchester City come into this fixture off the back of two straight league defeats to Chelsea and Leicester City. They have recorded four wins in their last 15 games in all competitions.

"If we put ourselves in front of our opponents we can fight against any Premier League team. If we are 100% ready, we can play against any team in the Premier League and battle for the three points," Mazzarri began during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

"This is something that gives us a lot of positivity before the game.

"I saw the [Leicester] game and was a bit surprised but in Italy they say each game has its own story.

"It was a great game by Leicester but there were some episodes that conditioned the game. If they managed to score two goals in five minutes for sure the game is completely changed.

"This won’t help us because we will find Man City very angry and very concentrated. We won’t have the luck that they can underestimate us. They won’t underestimate us.

"After such an intense game like the one against Everton, where we spent a lot physically and mentally, it's still very early for me to decide on the team that will take part in the game against Manchester City.

"Some of the players trained individually, some trained with the whole team. In order to to make a decision we will assess them tomorrow or the day after."
