Future Watford signing Joao Pedro scored a hat-trick in Fluminense’s 6-0 Copa do Brasil Under-17 rout of Cruzeiro this week. The Hornets are currently in the process of signing the teenage striker from the same Rio-based club that produced Richarlison.
Joao Pedro will continue to represent Fluminense until he turns 18 in 2020 and Watford are carefully following his progress in the youth tournaments in Brazil.
All his goals against Cruzeiro came in the second half, by which time the hosts were 2-0 up.
He picked the ball up on the left and cut in before firing into the near post on his favoured right foot for the first goal of his treble.
Then he met a cross from the right with his left foot for the second although it was not the cleanest of contacts.
He also dispatched a penalty with cool assurance to compete his hat-trick after a team-mate had been fouled in the box.
The goals take his tally for the calendar year to 32 in all competitions.
