Watford coach Quique Sanchez Flores has hailed his Nigerian goal-scoring machine Odion Ighalo after his winner at Sunderland.
The 26 year old who has notched 26 goals so far in this outgoing calendar year — more than any other player in England, has scored in his last three consecutive game for the Hornets, taking his tally to ten in 16 EPL games.
“The performances of Ighalo have been amazing. That is in the year – not just this season.
“He is individually a good player. But if he scores or plays well, it is because he is playing with other quality," Flores was quoted as say by The Sun.
The Hornets who are seventh in the table face Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, and Flores is keen to keep his side focused ahead of his team's tricky fixtures in the coming weeks.
“We are just thinking about the next match and see what happens.
“We have no other distractions — we don’t have to think about other targets.
“Since the beginning, we have tried to avoid the idea of relegation because that kind of narrative can eliminate the confidence of the players.
“We are always working hard, we are working in a positive atmosphere.
“That’s why I think the players have high confidence and they can show everyone that they are working very well.”
