–Irvine backs forward to prove his worth
West Bromwich Albion record signing, Brown Ideye has been told by his manager Alan Irvine, that he can still earn his place in the starting eleven of the team.
Ideye, 26, has struggled to make an impact since he joined the club from Dynamo Kiev in a deal believed to be worth £10m, a record for the Baggies. The Super Eagles forward was left out of the squad for the 1-0 win at Leicester City last week Saturday and hasn’t been the player he used to be.
“The way that we do it is I say to any player ‘If you want to come in on Monday, come in on Monday’,” Irvine said.
“But when the team is named and the subs are named they have to accept that, respect the rest of the players and then come back in later if they want to have a chat.
“I might have a chat with him if he feels he needs to have a chat, but if he doesn’t, then I won’t be calling him in.”
Report has also emerged that the Hawthorns side are planning to sign a new striker in the winter transfer, as their record signing is yet to score in the English Premier League.
Ideye’s only goal for the Baggies came in the League Cup against Hull City.
