Arsene Wenger has laid into Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov after the Russian suggested the Frenchman was ‘holding the club back’.
Wenger has come under fire after the Gunners’ dismal start to the season.
Starsport revealed that the Frenchman has held crunch talks with chief executive Ivan Gazidis over Arsenal’s poor run which has seen them slip out of Premier League title contention and to second place in their Champions League group.
And after Usmanov publicly questioned Wenger’s managerial methods, the Gunners boss came out fighting in his press conference prior to today’s clash with Borussia Dortmund at Emirates Stadium.
“I think the 18 years I have been here I can take criticism,” he said.
“We have values at this club. The first one is when you go through a difficult patch, you show solidarity.
