Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has expressed his disappointment that his side failed to capitalise on Sunderland’s lapses in Sunday’s 0-0 draw at the Stadium of Stadium.
Arsenal, who are now fighting for a top four finish, could not break down a resolute Sunderland side who are 17th in the league table courtesy of the draw.
Reacting to the result, Wenger said: “A team like Sunderland is ready to fight for their lives. We should have taken advantage of their anxiety.
“Maybe a little anxiety is creeping in when we are in front of goal. Giroud is lacking confidence but you go through spells like that.”
Wenger went on to voice his frustration that Arsenal are out of the title race.
“It is frustrating because we play to win the league. It is the same for other teams.”
