Wenger Again Slams Ref, Praises Arsenal Players After Chelsea Draw

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has once again blamed poor officiating for his side’s 2-2 home draw against Chelsea in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Arsenal went 1-0 up through Jack Wilshere but two goals from Eden Hazard from the penalty spot and Marcos Alonso looked to have secured the win for Chelsea.

But in added time, Hector Bellerin atoned for giving away a penalty by slamming home a poor Chelsea clearance.

Reacting to the thrilling draw, Wenger hailed the performance of his players despite questioning some of referee Anthony Taylor’s calls.

“You look at matters that influence the game. If it’s a penalty against us tonight it’s at least two for us.”

When asked if Video Assistant Referee (VAR) can improve things, Wenger responded: “I’m not very hopeful – I don’t want to talk, I love football and want to talk about football and not referees.

“It was a great football game. That’s what you want people to talk about. The media and social networks drive everyone crazy today but what is important to me is a good football game.

“We played three games in six days and you could see the team gave absolutely everything, we have a busy schedule and bad decisions but still great quality in our games.”
