Williams chief Claire Williams says Robert Kubica is one of a number of options they are considering for their second driver in 2019. The Grove-outfit have taken on Mercedes youngster George Russell for next year but are still to decide who will replace Lance Stroll, with the Canadian moving to Force India after his father’s recent purchase of the team.
Kubica has not driven in an F1 race since a near-fatal crash in a rally incident in 2011 but has been Williams’ test driver this year, outperforming Stroll during practice at the Spanish GP.
Esteban Ocon and Sergey Sirotkin are also candidates for the role and the deputy team principal says Williams are keeping their options open.
“We have a short shortlist, which we are evaluating,” she said. “We started that evaluation process a good few weeks ago now. We always said we wanted to make this decision based on pure data, and to get the best talent from within that pool of drivers that we have. So we’re working through that at the moment.
“Robert is absolutely on that list, as are a handful of other drivers who all have talent as well. Robert has done a great job for the team this year and he would be a fantastic teammate to George.
“But we’re not ready to make that final decision yet. We’ve still got conversations to have internally and with the drivers in question.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
