Nigeria’s D’Tigress star, Nkechi Akashili believes that their resounding 106-33 points victory over Guinea in their fourth game of the ongoing women’s Afrobasket in Bamako has given them a great boost ahead of Wednesday’s crunch clash against Senegal, Completesportnigeria.com reports.
D’Tigress returned to the summit in Group B following their fourth straight win in the competition amassing 376 point, 32 more than Senegal who recorded 344 from the same number of games.
Akashili scored 12 points and provided two assists in the encounter against Guinea and she is confident that the big players in the Nigerian team that featured on Tuesday will be ready to face the defending champions who also outclassed Egypt 93-61 on Tuesday.
Nigeria have lost five of their nine encounters against Senegal.
D’Tigress recent victory against Senegal was in 2015 when they won 75-64.
“Guinea is not really a strong team. We just played them to boost our game against Senegal tomorrow,” Akashili said during the post match interview on Tuesday.
“Now, we know how to play Senegal with our big men. For Senegal, they have size on their side. So we put it into practice against Guinea as we used more of the big players and it worked.”
