Home-based Super Eagles coach, Salisu Yusuf, says that he and his team will sacrifice the enjoyment of Christmas season their spirited efforts to win the first African Nations Championship (CHAN) title for Nigeria in Morocco early next year, Completesportsnigeria.com report’s.
The coach insists that the team will train all through the festive period but will only rest on Christmas day and maybe on New Year day before travelling to Morocco to continue preparation ahead of the CHAN 2018.
Yusuf also informs that he will pick his final list of 23 players from the 30 presently in camp.
He reiterates that the home-based Super Eagles have what it takes to win CHAN 2018 which kicks off in Morocco on January 12, 2018.
“Our training will go on throughout this festive period, but with rest days, on Christmas day, and maybe on New Year day, ” Salish Yusuf tells Completesportsnigeria.com in Abuja.
“I believe these boys will give their best and try to win the CHAN title for Nigeria for the first time. Winning the NPFL Invitational in Kano has given the boys so much confidence and they are hungry for more success.
“If you ask me, I will say Nigeria is due to win the CHAN trophy after several attempts, and we are going to Morocco with the belief that we can win it. We are working very hard to ensure that we do not disappoint the country.”
He continues: “what we are concentrating on are tactics and blending, as well as team bonding. The fitness of the players is high and I believe they will be 100 percent fit before we depart on January 2 2018”
