Zamalek coach Mohamed Helmy praised his side for their doggedness after they picked a valuable away win in their CAF Champions League Group B fixture against Enyimba on Sunday, Completesportnigeria.com reports.
The White Knights took the lead through Bassem Morsy in the 8th minute of the encounter played at Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt and defended the advantage till the end of the game despite spirited efforts by the hosts to find an equaliser.
Helmy told Completesportsnigeria.com that he was delighted to see his side beat the Nigerian champions on a rain soaked pitch despite observing the Ramadan fasting.
"We played under a difficult condition as the pitch was wet, but my players gave their all and we are happy to be going home with the three points," Helmy said.
"We know it was going to be difficult with the fasting period going on, but my players showed great determination by winning the game.
"I must give kudos to them for their efforts and we are looking forward to winning our next group game against ES Setif."
